I had a couple of USA QSOs this evening. One with K1ESE who was operating the Maine QSO Party. The second was with WA2OAX near the city of New York. Good strong signals from both.
I looked up OAX just to see where he was in NYS, never know, he could have been close to my USA QTH.
He wasn't just around the corner.
I am including a link to a French video I posted some time ago. Just repeating it to illustrate that a lot of money need not be spent to get on the air. Personally, I would have chosen 20M rather than 80M essentially for the QRP possibilities on 20M and the fact that real-estate required for a half-wave 80M antenna is significant and not easily found in many French developments.
I have been using my OHR100A at 3 to 4.5 watts. Todays two DX contacts were at about 3.5 watts. Drift is avoided by allowing at least 10 minutes for the rig to settle down. Tuning is sharp as I do not have a 10-pot installed. I use my MFJ-886 frequency counter to be sure of where I am.
73 and have a good week.
